Seeds are germinating really well

  1. Planting Seeds:

    • Sow seeds directly in the garden or in seed trays. Plant them about 1 to 2 cm deep in well-draining soil.
  2. Location:

    • Choose a sunny location for optimum growth. Garland chrysanthemums prefer full sun but can tolerate partial shade.
  3. Spacing:

    • When transplanting seedlings, space them about 20 to 30 cm apart to allow for proper growth and air circulation.
  4. Watering:

    • Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during germination. Once established, water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry.
  5. Fertilization:

    • Apply a balanced fertilizer when the plants are a few weeks old. Garland generally appreciates moderate feeding.
  6. Mulching:

    • Apply a layer of mulch around the plants to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.
  7. Harvesting:

    • Garland chrysanthemums are often harvested when they are young and tender. Harvest leaves and stems regularly, starting when the plants are about 15 cm tall.
  8. Succession Planting:

    • Consider successive plantings every few weeks to ensure a continuous harvest throughout the growing season.
  9. Pest Control:

    • Keep an eye out for pests such as aphids. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if necessary.
  10. Overwintering:

    • In colder climates, you might need to replant in the following growing season as garland chrysanthemums are usually grown as annuals.
