  1. Planting Seeds:

    • Sow radish seeds directly in the garden or in containers. Plant them about 0.5cm deep in well-draining soil.
  2. Spacing:

    • Space rows about 15 to 20cm apart. Individual radishes within a row should be spaced approximately 5 to 7cm apart.
  3. Location:

    • Choose a sunny location for your radishes. They prefer full sun for optimum growth.
  4. Soil Preparation:

    • Plant radishes in well-draining soil with a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0. Incorporate organic matter like compost into the soil before planting.
  5. Watering:

    • Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the radish's active growth phase. Water at the base of the plant to avoid wetting the foliage.
  6. Fertilization:

    • Radishes are not heavy feeders, but you can apply a balanced fertilizer when planting, and consider side-dressing during the growing season.
  7. Thinning:

    • Thin the radish seedlings once they have a couple of true leaves, leaving the strongest ones spaced appropriately.
  8. Mulching:

    • Apply a layer of organic mulch around the radishes to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and maintain a more even soil temperature.
  9. Pest Control:

    • Monitor for pests such as flea beetles or aphids. Use insecticidal soap or neem oil if pests become problematic.
  10. Harvesting:

    • The taste of yeolmu is best when it has grown about 7 leaves. Harvest promptly for the best flavour and texture.
